Not Illmatic, but good
Everyone knows the story of Nas from his classic to his Escobar days, so I won't go over that again. His third album I Am... is a great album, but people got to understand the Illmatic days are over.
He does have a couple of songs that could have been on Illmatic like "N.Y. State Of Mind Pt. II" and "Nas Is Like", both produced by DJ Premier who should produce a whole Nas album. "Nas Is Like" is simply a masterpiece. "Hate Me Now" has Nas mad at all the haters and has Puff Daddy on the hook. "Small World" and "Undying Love" are great storytellin' songs. The surprising guest appearance by Scarface works good on "Favor For A Favor". "We Will Survive" is being called the new "One Love" as he raps about The Notorious B.I.G. and 2pac and explains how hip hop will always survive.
Nas does have a couple of mistakes when he tries to do that fast flow on "Big Things" (Why does everyone want to do that?). And "K-I-SS-I-N-G" is a little too soft. Nas is a great mc, so people don't hate.
